About Us

Hello there

We are Dorset Nectar Cider, started and run by the Strong family.

Oliver and Penny ran a contemporary metal Sculpture and Topiary art business and in 2006 bought the Cider apple orchard here on Pineapple Lane in Waytown outside Bridport. The plan was to harvest the apples in the autumn and use the barn on site to make sculptures initially.

The focus soon shifted from Sculptures with the Recession in 2008 causing a challenging time; to Cider, Apple juice and cider vinegar with a side line of Bees, sheep and 650 Organic Laying Hens for Eggs locally.

After College Dante joined the family business full time and after his history studies at university Ryan joined the family business full time closely followed by Christian a few years after. Oliver and Penny continue to lead the Cider farm in Cider blending, managing the Orchard. Sisters; Amber and Kiah help with the running of events in Devon and at the Orchard with the annual january Wassail and World Nettle Eating Contest in June.

Since First making Cider in 2008 the family run Cider business has grown from strength to strength as the farm business has changed with the times and diversified. The Orchards planted specifically for Cider apple harvesting back in the 1970s the Cider orchard is mature and full of the finest apple varieties for Cidermaking, Apple Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar. The entire family being involved in different parts of the farm business from Orchard management with pruning and harvesting to running our thrice weekly Tour & Tastings alongside Cider Saturdays and since 2020 popular Orchard camping April - mid September.

From the very start we have focused on Quality over Quantity ethos alongside our sustainable approach to orchard management and Cider making.
